Engineered Food Trailer System
Designed for full US road compliance, safety at 65 MPH, and optimized for food service operation.
A complete structural and mechanical design package—from material selection to axle specification—engineered for a 9,000+ lb GVWR mobile kitchen.
The Core System
- High-Strength Frame – Frame designed for 2″ x 2″ square tubing, bent with a 48″ radius using a SWAG HULK roller for structural integrity.
- Composite Body Panels – Selected 5-6mm Fiberglass (GRP) for curved sections, offering lightweight durability, weather resistance, and cost-effective molding.
- Certified Running Gear – Specified Dexter 5,200 lb tandem axles with electric brakes, overslung leaf springs, and a 17″ wheel system for highway stability.
- Precise Weight Distribution – Axles positioned at ~60% of trailer length to achieve optimal 10-15% tongue weight for safe towing at 65 MPH.
- Complete Suspension Kit – Integrated a heavy-duty Dexter suspension system with equalizers, wet bolts, and bronze bushings for smooth load distribution and longevity.
The Design & Compliance Process
- Client Brief & Code Analysis
Defined requirements for US road compliance (DOT), 65 MPH capability, and food service functionality.
- Structural & Material Engineering
Performed feasibility on frame bending, selected GRP over glass for curved panels, and sourced all compliant mechanical components.
- Mechanical Systems Integration
Specified axle brand, style, suspension, and wheels to meet GVWR targets and ensure road safety.
- Documentation & Handoff
Compiled full specification reports, sourcing links, and engineering rationale for client review and fabrication.
